Two Retirements in the Southeast

District 12

The Cape County Firefighters Association set up a booth at the SEMO District Fair this year. Firefighters from member organizations handed out coloring books, fire helmets, safety information, and information links to the member organizations. This was also a recruiting event for the area fire districts and fire departments.

Battalion Chief Brad Dillow retired from the Cape Girardeau Fire Department on October 14. Battalion Chief Dillow served for 30 years and wore many hats, including the Region E HSRT, technical rescue, and keeping the department’s radio communications equipment updated and programmed. Congratulations, Battalion Chief Dillow, enjoy retirement.

There was another retirement in Cape Girardeau County in October. I retired as the Fire Chief of Fruitland Area Fire Protection District on October 31. I served in that position for 11 years, partly as a volunteer chief and then as a paid chief.

With my retirement, District 12 will need a new director. It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve as a director of FFAM. Thank you for all you do for your communities and stay safe out there.
