We invite you to volunteer at the 2026 Show-Me Stars and Stripes Missouri State Fair Fire Department August 13 – 23 in Sedalia. You may apply until June 1 at the Firefighters Association of Missouri website, ffam.org. You must be a member of the FFAM to apply. You may apply for 1 day or for all 12. We go in service on August 12 at 18:00 and out of service on Sunday August 23 at 22:00. Members gather each year to form a special fire department and emergency services for the fairgrounds. We are the only known department that forms for an event each year. We own no equipment but are incredibly lucky enough to have member departments willing to supply our equipment along with many vendors who showcase their products for our department. Volunteers come together each year to showcase their talents in service to the fairgoers. We provide fire protection and first aid with ambulance services and public education for activities during the fair. You will enjoy meeting and making new friends who like to give their time and knowledge and share it daily. The kids stop at the firehouse for apparatus tours of the donated equipment and observe the training and demonstrations throughout the fair. It is a good time to interact with people and share your passion to help others and education of what you do in your profession. We staff Engines, Ambulances, Dispatch, First Aid and Public Relations slots each day. We cook all our own meals, and we invite you to share your cooking and grilling talents. You can enjoy the daily activities and training and learn a few new ideas from the rest of the crew. Please consider joining our department this year. We are celebrating 65 years of volunteering service to the State of Missouri this year as well as occupying our new firehouse. We will hold tours and an evening meal each Saturday of the fair for those who have served in the past and want to come back and visit. If you need assistance in getting to the station, please contact me and make prior arrangements. We will schedule several work weekends to put our equipment and furnishings in the building before the fair.
