I extend my sincere gratitude to everyone who took the time to complete the applications. Please be aware that the application period will close on May 31st. The Missouri State Fair Fire Department is truly unique; we are the only fully functional fire department in the nation that operates for the entire 11 days of the fair. This remarkable achievement is made possible through the generous donations of equipment from various fire departments and districts across the state, along with contributions from vendors who provide loose equipment, such as SCBA, extrication tools and, and gas monitors, to name just a few. However, the most vital element of our operation is our dedicated staff, who volunteer their time, and for this, I am sincerely thankful. As many of you are aware, our old firehouse is showing signs of age and requires necessary attention after remaining dormant for some time. To prepare the firehouse for the upcoming season, we have scheduled work details on June 20-22, July 18-20, and August 1-3. I hope to see many of you at these work details as we strive to restore the firehouse to its best condition. Furthermore, for those who may not have been following the board meeting minutes or the articles published in our magazine, I would like to highlight an important upcoming change. After the 2025 State Fair, we will need to pack up and load the firehouse into storage, as it has been designated for demolition and will be replaced with a new firehouse. If you would like to preserve a keepsake or assist with this transition, please lend a hand with packing and moving. The exact dates for this process are still being finalized, but your support will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the Missouri State Fair Fire Department. Sincerely, Robert (R.B.) Brown Chairman
