Come and See us Next Year!

The 61st year of operations for the Missouri State Fair Volunteer Fire Department (MSFVFD) has come to a close. I would like to say thank you to all of the departments and vendors who have supported us by allowing us to use their equipment and supplies. If you know anything about the fair, you know that we would never be able to do the things that we do without the support.

Another huge thank you goes to all of the volunteers throughout our organization who give of their time to come to the fair and staff our department. We all know it’s not easy to get off of work and spend that much time away from our families and homes, but we could not do this without all of you and your sacrifices. We had tons of new people come this year which is awesome. I hope you fall in love with it as much as I have and keep coming for many years to come.

The fair presents a unique set of challenges and this year was no exception. The men and women of the MSFVFD rose to the occasion and performed their duties with honor and professionalism.

This year brought larger than usual crowd sizes to concerts and events, with one concert being sold out at the grandstand. It truly is a beautiful thing to see men and women who don’t work with each other every day come together with a common goal and make a large incident like that flow smoothly and efficiently. And we did that more than once this year.

On a personal note, I would like to say thank you to Chief RB Brown. I have learned so much from you in the 14 fairs I have worked with you. You have been an awesome mentor and Chief. I hope that I can be even half the Chief that you have been to me.
You certainly leave some big shoes to fill.

To the rest of the Department, it is an honor to be named as the next Chief. I love the fair, I love that place and I love our department. If I told you that I was not nervous about the future I’d be lying, but I know we have a fantastic team full of great people. You all are amazing and together we will do great things.

Thank You for a great 61 and here’s to an even better 62.
