The groundbreaking for a new satellite fire station to be located at 175 County Road 313, Taylor, Missouri was held on a very hot August 5, 2024, afternoon with current and past board members, Fire Chief Gary Crane, and Heimer Construction Company representatives. Also, in attendance were several volunteer firefighters, many local residents, representatives from institutions assisting with the project, and local news media. The new fire station construction will also be providing space for the United States Postal Service, whose previous Taylor location has now been gone for a number of years.
The decision to locate a satellite station in this area was because of the high volume of calls concentrated along this highly traveled corridor between Missouri, Illinois and Iowa. It justified the need for a second fire station building. A faster response time in the Taylor/ West Quincy area will greatly improve the outcome of these calls.
