An Introduction

District 11

My name is Kris White and I have been a volunteer firefighter for the Mayview Fire Protection District (MFPD) for 22 years. It is an honor to have been nominated and recently voted in as the FFAM’s District 11 Assistant Director.

Outside of the fire service, I own Tier 1 Fabrication, a welding and manufacturing company located in Mayview. Prior to opening the business in 2016, I was a professional welder for KCPL/Evergy for nearly 13 years. My wife, Jessica, and I have been married since 2016. She works for an Independence, Missouri-based driveaway logistics company. Jessica also serves as the President of the Mayview Fire Ladies Auxiliary and is the Secretary/Treasurer for the Mayview Fire Protection District. Our daughter, Abby, is a freshman at Odessa High School. She is very active in 4-H, FFA, and is a junior member of the Ladies Auxiliary. We reside in rural Mayview on a small farm.

The mission statement of the Fire Fighters Association of Missouri begins by mentioning the brotherhood that exists between the members of the Association throughout the State of Missouri. When I was 16, I became a volunteer firefighter in Mayview. After 10 years of service, in 2010, I was elected to serve as Chief and continue to serve in that role today. Over the years, I have learned that the concept of brotherhood as it relates to the fire service isn’t something that one can fully understand until they are directly involved.

For our department and for my family and me, that bond and brotherhood are what really opened our eyes to the FFAM and the outstanding people who make up this organization. In 2017, the MFPD experienced its first line of duty death. The outpouring of support from our brothers and sisters from all over the state was nothing short of incredible. The Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Kingdom City was a beautiful way to honor our fallen brother, his family and his fellow volunteer firefighters. From the day of the accident on, many members of the FFAM went above and beyond and helped us to navigate through a very difficult time. Those members are the people who have inspired me to get more involved and I hope to serve the FFAM with the same level of dedication and commitment that was shown to us.

I look forward to learning more about all aspects of this organization and I am eager to meet more of the amazing men and women of the FFAM.
