1st Vice President Comments – January 2022

Greetings and welcome to a new year. I hope you had a great holiday season and were able to spend time with family and friends. Take the opportunity to look back on the year and see what great things you have accomplished. As we move into the new year and prepare for a successful one.

Here are some things to add to your calendar. Winter Fire School is the first weekend of February. Many great classes are being offered.

Also, the Equipment Expo will be on Friday starting at noon and running until 8:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to see the latest and greatest equipment. Come to Columbia and enjoy. It is always a good time for me, but I’ll admit, I spend more time talking to new and old friends than looking at equipment.

Firefighter day in Jefferson City will be in April. It is the 50th Anniversary for the Division of Fire Safety in Missouri. There are some special events scheduled for the day. This is a good time to come to Jefferson City and talk to your legislators. If you have never been, I encourage you to come and participate. Most legislators are eager to hear from you.

Convention is scheduled to be an in person event this year in Washington, Missouri. Washington always puts on a great convention. Some new things are planned as well as some long-standing traditions. Remember, all award nominations are due by the 28th of February. Hotels are taking reservations and the convention and contest committees are ready for your registrations as well.

The annual Firefighter Memorial is scheduled for the third weekend in May. Saturday night candlelight and Sunday morning services will be held. This is a good time to come to Kingdom City to enjoy the Memorial and all its splender along with looking at the new building that will house the museum.

Of course, in August the State Fair rolls around. Applications are due by June 1st for those of you wishing to serve at the fair. For those of you that do, thank you for your service.

Thank you for letting me serve as your 1st Vice President for the organization. I will admit I am learning a lot and enjoying it very much. If there is anything I can do for you, please feel free to contact me at anytime.

Thank you for your service to your community and be safe.
