Mapaville Fire Protection District Awards

During the annual Christmas banquet, Fire Chief David Brown on behalf of the Board of Directors for the Mapaville Fire Protection District (MFPD) made the following presentations to personnel.

The Meritorious Service Award was presented to the following personnel for their participation in a life saving effort while responding to a severe motor vehicle collision. On a date in July 2019, crews responded to a motor vehicle collision with an entrapment. Upon arrival, the vehicle’s passenger and engine compartment was heavily involved in fire with the driver requiring rescue and extrication. The responding crew members realized immediately that the situation was dire and fire extinguishment and extrication efforts commenced while incident command and operations were established. The victim was extricated by MFPD personnel, treated by JPAD personnel, and evacuated by helicopter to a regional trauma center.

Hematite and Festus firefighters assisted with this response.

For their Life Saving Efforts, the following MFPD personnel were recognized:

  • Fire Commissioner Andrew Brown
  • Assistant Fire Chief Jay Wolk
  • Lt. Daniel Seward
  • Firefighter Robert Aubuchon
  • Firefighter Kyle Mueller

Additionally, the Founders Award was presented to Fire Commissioner Andrew Brown, Assistant Fire Chief Jay Wolk, and Captain Jordan Acre. The Founders Award was established to recognize personnel for providing exceptional dedication and selfless service to the Mapaville Fire Protection District in the districts efforts to provide professional and quality service to the residents of Mapaville and Jefferson County.
