For the first time in 2019, the FFAM offered an added benefit to our member agencies in the form of a reimbursable equipment grant. The grant was established with $3,000 of funding to reimburse firefighting related equipment purchases. The FFAM Awards Committee was tasked with overseeing the grant application process and awarding the grant.
With 2019 being the first opportunity for the grant, we are excited to say the number of applications and variety of equipment requests were outstanding with 40 FFAM member agencies submitting applications. These agencies had annual department budgets ranging from $0 to over $4.3 million. As the Committee reviewed the applications, it was determined three $1,000 grants would be awarded to at least partially fund the awarded projects.

As the budget process begins for 2020, the FFAM is exploring the options for additional funding for the grant program based upon the reception during this inaugural year. More information will be provided to membership if the funding level changes. In the meantime, begin planning your applications for the 2020 grant process.
