News From District 2 – September 2019

Hello from District 2. Well, the state fair for 2019 is in the books. I wish to thank all that took part. Are you interested in being a part in 2020 Missouri State Fair Fire Department? Keep an eye on your FFAM magazine for the application. Spend a day, several days, or the whole fair. Great food, bunk at the fire station, great training and great fellowship with your fire and EMS brothers and sisters.

The museum project is coming along. A special fund-raiser that started August 1, is now going on. Wynne Angus Farm has made a donation of two sides of beef. Tickets are $10 each and that is for two chances. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold. See any memorial foundation member for the tickets, myself, as well as some members of the FFAM have tickets as well. Drawing is at the 2020 convention, May 1-3. We need your help in finishing the inside. This is a great way to help and get some great angus beef. Processing is included. If you wish to be a part and can help finish the inside, any donation will help make this project a reality.

The Missouri Fire Funeral Assistance Team with the Missouri EMS Funeral Response Team will be holding their annual conference November 1-2, 2019, at the Inn at Grand Glaize resort in Osage Beach. Supporting Heroes CEO Eric Johnson from Louisville, Kentucky, will be the instructor for the program, Ultimate Honors. Friday from 1:00-5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00-3:00 p.m. Closing out the conference will be a banquet Saturday night. Remembering those that have passed in the last year will be a part of the program as we honor the crew of LifeNet 2-2, Last mission August 26, 2011. Awards, a plated diner, and a special guest will close out the 2019 conference. A flyer was in your last FFAM newsletter. But if you are interested in attending drop me an e-mail at gwright000@gmail.com for more information and a copy of the flyer. If you wish to attend the banquet go to moemsfuneralteam.org and click on the store for tickets.

The fire marshal stair climb is coming up on Saturday, October 19, in Jefferson City. Sign up now. Also, if you cannot make that, on Saturday, October 19, at 2:00 p.m. there will be the groundbreaking for the new Missouri EMS memorial. It will be on the campus of Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph Missouri.

As always, if you have something going on in District 2 let me know. If I can get there I would love to attend.

Till next time be safe.
