The Pilot Grove Area Fire Protection District recently purchased a 1991 Peterbilt tandem 3,000 gallon pumper/tanker with a 1,250 GPM pump. The ISO upgraded the Fire Protection District to a 5/5y rating. Chief Gordon Shay wanted to increase their water supply in the rural areas to keep this rating and possibly to help improve it. The new rating has lowered the taxpayer’s insurance payments by a significant amount. The Citizens Community Bank of Pilot Grove has been of great assistance in helping the Fire Fighters to upgrade their equipment.

In 2015 the Board of Directors approved the purchase of a 2003 Chevy brush truck to help in the control of grass and wildland fires and is also their “first out” vehicle in medical calls since it has the repeater radio system and carries medical equipment. It is the goal of the Board of Directors to provide the equipment the firefighters need to do their job and to stay safe.
